Abstract

Los seres humanos habitan un ambiente poblado de microorganismos capaces de invadirlos, provocarles trastornos patológicos y eventualmente su muerte. Sin embargo, sólo en ciertas ocasiones experimentan procesos infecciosos clínicamente evidentes. Ello obedece a la existencia de un sistema inmune altamente eficiente. La relevancia antiinfecciosa del sistema inmune se pone de manifiesto con la gran susceptibilidad a infecciones que padecen individuos con deficiencias inmunes heredadas o adquiridas. Su importancia también se refleja en la capacidad de la vacunación de proveer una protección efectiva frente a las infecciones...
