Abstract

This article engages with the proposals of new turns in contemporary thought (such as: posthumanism, accelerationism and speculative realism), by focusing on certain pivotal points, to redirect them towards an ethos of research oriented by different practices. It suggests the hypothesis that theoretical practice has become ineffective in transforming current modes of existence due to three converging factors: the prevalence of cogito, which assumes a purely cognitive reflexivity that appeals to explanation; the mimetic identification with other (artistic, scientific, political, technical) practices; and the attempt at a conceptual systematization of these practices that is disconnected from their actual materiality. The “practical turn” that is proposed implies, instead: to constitute an ethical (not merely cognitive) reflexivity; to shift the focus to other practices in the production of concepts; and to offer an open and complex systematization of these practices.
