El humo ambiental de tabaco

Abstract

Fumar produce efectos adversos para la salud científicamente documentados. La expectativa de vida se acorta entre 5-8 años y entre 18-22 años en ausencia o presencia de enfermedad respectivamente. Respecto de quienes no fuman, los fumadores activos pueden presentar las siguientes condiciones con su asociado riesgo relativo: enfermedad pulmonar obstructiva crónica (12.7), ataque cardíaco (2.0-5.0), coronariopatía isquémica (1.6), aneurisma de aorta (5.0), neumonía aguda de la comunidad (2.0-3.15), muerte súbita (3.0), cáncer de pulmón (10.0). El riesgo relativo es de 16 para los fumadores activos con familiares que tuvieron cáncer de pulmón...
