Abstract

Nicaraguan women who migrate to Costa Rica are are levant group. The work they perform is mainly the domestic remunerative work. This work includes, depending on the case, a wide range of activities such as management of the household, cleaning, gardening, caring of dependent persons, among others. What all these activities have in common is that they occur wit hin the domestic/familiar field. In most cases, this is a very precarious type of job with wages below the minimum and without social security or any type of in surance. In the following article, we will seek to link diagnosis elements in socioeconomic and political terms of Costa Rica, the present situation of the Nicaraguan migrant women inserted in the domestic remunerative work, and the legal and cultural discriminatory context that regulates this work.
