Abstract

The present work responds to a prosographic line, in terms of historical theory, with the aim of introducing a little-known character who suffered the Jesuit exile of 1767. A Catalan by birth, Fr García held various posts, such as rector of the colleges of Belén and San Ignacio in Buenos Aires, that of the Inmaculada in Santa Fe and superior of the residence in Montevideo, as well as being procurator of the province and of the college of Buenos Aires, and missionary in Concepción de los Pampa. He ended his days in exile, confined in Faenza, where he translated important works such as that of Fr Scaramelli, but in the unfortunate context.
