Tidalitas en la formación lajas, Jurasico Medio, Cuenca Neuquina

Abstract

La Formación Lajas es una unidad clásica del registro del Jurásico de la Cuenca Neuquina, y ha sido objeto de numerosos estudios. De los de afloramiento, predominan aquellos localizados al sur de la Dorsal de Huincul. Allí, se ha interpretado que un sistema deltaico con alto aporte clástico habría alcanzado la zona del quiebre del talud entre el Aleniano y el Bajociano (Olariu et al., 2019). El sistema ha recibido distintas interpretaciones en cuanto a los procesos dominantes ya sea por oleaje, fluviales o mareales. Sin embargo, producto de la geometría de la cuenca en forma de embudo (funnel shape), en dicha zona se habría amplificado el registro de mareas (McIroy et al., 2007).
