Superconductividad a temperatura ambiente: Un debate actual entre científicos

Abstract

En el año 2020, un grupo de investigadores de la Universidad de Rochester en Nueva York, encabezado por el físico Ranga Días, informó haber fabricado un compuesto que se comporta como superconductor a 15 grados centígrados. Se trata de una mezcla de carbono, hidrógeno y sulfuro con un tratamiento especial, sometido a una presión muy alta (2,6 millones de veces la presión atmosférica). Los datos resultaron tan contundentes, que fueron publicados en la revista Nature, la más prestigiosa revista científica internacional en el área de ciencias naturales. Sin embargo, otros científicos notaron una sutileza que ponía en duda la interpretación de los datos, por lo que hace poco la revista retractó el artículo. ¿Qué mostraban estos experimentos y por qué su interpretación fue puesta en duda?
