Lagartija Liolaemus huacahuasicus

Abstract

Liolaemus es uno de los géneros de lagartijas más diverso y rico en especies del mundo, con casi 288 especies descriptas y junto con Phymaturus (con 52 especies descriptas), y Ctenoblepharys constituyen la familia Liolaemidae. Se distribuye ampliamente en todas las regiones áridas y semiáridas de América del Sur, con un extenso rango latitudinal y altitudinal desde el centro de Perú, al norte de su distribución, hasta Tierra del Fuego, en el extremo sur de su distribución, ocupando diversos y variados hábitats a través de Argentina, Bolivia, Brasil, Chile, Paraguay, Perú, y Uruguay, hasta el sur del estrecho de Magallanes. El nombre de la especie hace referencia a “Huaca Huasi”, nombre indígena de “terra typica”. La localidad tipo es la laguna de Huaca Huasi, Cumbres Calchaquíes (4250 m.s.n.m.), Tucumán, Argentina. Liolaemus huacahuasicus pertenece a la sección de L. montanus, clado de L. huacahuasicus dentro del subgénero Eulaemus
