Abstract

Las hepáticas son plantas inferiores relacionadas taxonómicamente con los musgos dentro de la división Briofitas. Particularmente, las hepáticas son los únicos miembros de las Briofitas que elaboran derivados del azuleno1. Los azulenos presentan efecto antiinflamatorio, bactericida, antialérgico, antiulceroso Del extracto etéreo de nuestra colección argentina de Plagiochila bursata (Hepaticae) el 1,4-dimetilazuleno (2) fue identificado por GC-MS y aislado mediante cromatografía líquida de alta performance.2 Se evaluaron la actividad antioxidante de los productos naturales 1 y 2 y de los cuatro derivados sintéticos3 3, 4, 5 y 6 (5 a 100 µg/ml) mediante un ensayo espectrofotométrico de decoloración del radicales estables: DPPH (2,2-difenil-1-picrilhidracilo) y frente a otro radical orgánico centrado en átomos de nitrógeno como el ABTS (2,2'-azinobis-(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid)4,5.
