Abstract

El objetivo de este trabajo fue evaluar el efecto de la pérdida de rastrojo, causada por incendio, sobre el crecimiento y rendimiento del cultivo de soja basada en la hipótesis de que la quema de los rastrojos en sistemas con siembra directa afecta principalmente el balance de agua y el rendimiento del cultivo. Para ello, en un lote de producción que perdió los rastrojos por acción del fuego en el 40% de su superficie, se estableció un experimento con dos tratamientos; con cobertura, CC (lote sin quemar) y sin cobertura, SC (lote con quema de rastrojo), dispuestos en un diseño experimental completamente aleatorizado con tres repeticiones, donde se monitorearon y cuantificaron variables del suelo y del cultivo. La pérdida del rastrojo por acción del fuego en un sistema de siembra directa modificó el contenido hídrico del suelo repercutiendo sobre características morfológicas del cultivo, menor altura y biomasa, y afectando negativamente componentes del rendimiento como densidad de plantas, número y peso de granos, que provocaron una disminución del rendimiento del cultivo de soja. Estos resultados se produjeron en un año con precipitaciones marcadamente superiores a la media regional, por lo que es esperable que en un año normal esas diferencias se puedan magnificar.

The objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of the stubble lost by burning on the soybean growth and yield, on the assumption that the burning on no-till systems mainly affects the water balance and consequently crop yield. The experiment was established using a completely randomized design with two treatments: with coverage (unburned) (CC) and without coverage (stubble burned) (SC), where soil and crop traits were observed and measured. The loss of stubble modified the soil water content, which affects directly crop growth.
