Abstract

The representation of Asian characters is not common in Argentine literature. However, it is possible to find numerous works belonging to Argentine Children's and Young Adult Literature, in which Asian characters are represented either stereotypically or reflexively. This article proposes, in the first place, an overview of the representation of East Asian characters (China, Japan, and Korea) in Argentine Children’s Literature, and secondly, an analysis of the stories "Mil grullas", by Elsa Bornemann (1981), Historia de un amor exagerado, by Graciela Montes (1987) and Dos pequeñas gatas japonesas, by Paula Bombara (2018), having cultural authenticity as the axis of analysis.
