La “nuevaolera”. Nuevos patrones de sexualidad y belleza en la televisión argentina (1962-1969)

Abstract

A principios de la década del ’60, hombres y mujeres jóvenes, cantando nuevos ritmos, moviéndose de nuevas formas, se instalaron en la TV argentina e hicieron furor entre un público igualmente joven. La industria cultural encontraba en la juventud un nuevo impulso y todo un mercado se creó en torno a los nuevos ídolos; un proceso en parte importado del exterior pero con rasgos característicos en la escena nacional. En este trabajo nos proponemos reconocer los signos de “la nuevaoleridad” de la joven moderna que se erige como nuevo “astro” de la televisión; estudiar los “modelos corporales” que propone este medio y analizar las transformaciones de la imagen femenina televisiva a lo largo de la década. Dentro de este grupo de jóvenes a los que se los ha dado a llamar “los nuevaoleros”, la mujer adquiere un lugar y define sus propias posibilidades: su gestualidad y movimientos, sus poses, vestidos, peinados y accesorios; también su sonrisa, sus ojos, sus nombres, sus modos de relacionarse con lo masculino, los espacios que transita, como toda la parafernalia de objetos que porta, funcionan como marcadores de virtud o índices de modernidad. Poner la mirada sobre las representaciones del cuerpo femenino en un corpus compuesto por programas musicales y de ficción entre 1962 y 1969 nos permitirá comprender los modos en que la televisión, convertida en medio hegemónico para esa época, se apropió, puso a debatir y resolvió, si es que lo hizo, ciertas tensiones sociales vinculadas con las diferencias de género, los significados de la belleza femenina y la sexualidad de la mujer.

At the beginning of 1960s, young men and women, singing new rhythms, moving in original ways, appeared in Argentinian TV and made furor between a public equally young. The cul‐ tural industry found in youth new impetus and an entire market was established around the new idols; a process in part imported from abroad but with particular characteristics in the national scene. In this work we intend to recognize the signs of the new young women TV "astro’s”, “nuevaoleridad"; to study the body "models" that this media produced and analyze the transformation of the feminine image over the decade. To study the representations of the female body in a corpus of musical and fiction programs between 1962 and 1969 will en‐ able us to understand the ways in which television ‐an hegemonic media in early 1960s‐, dis‐ cussed and resolved, if it did so, certain social tensions linked to gender differences, beauty and sexuality.
