Historia conceptual

Abstract

Trabajamos todo el tiempo con conceptos políticos: república, democracia, Estado, nación, revolución, política, justicia, sociedad, entre otros. Sin embargo, sabemos poco de su historicidad y de la carga de sentidos (diferentes, plurales y hasta contradictorios) que cada uno de ellos trae consigo. Los usamos como si se trataran de conceptos neutrales, transparentes y hasta universales. Y, en cambio, si nos detenemos a pensar, resulta anacrónico e inadecuado hablar de individuo o Estado en la Antigüedad, por citar algunos ejemplos recurrentes. Un uso arbitrario de esos conceptos, que haga abstracción de su historia y de sus contextos de producción, lleva a importantes equívocos y a la imposibilidad de análisis rigurosos. Para un conocimiento adecuado de la profundidad histórica de los conceptos fundamentales de la política y para un tratamiento más preciso del lenguaje político y social, contamos con las herramientas heurísticas de la historia conceptual.
