In this work I intend to approach the relationship between socio-cultural research and the possible use - direct or mediate - of its results. I will make a comparative analysis among characteristic experiences of study of urban imaginaries and instances of planning and intervention, including demands of participative actions. The objective is to debate (in a journey that will go from casuistry towards theory) on the relationship between what is studied andwhat is done with what is studied. The cases that will be taken into account include the neighbourhood scale, that of towns of middle range, a region and a metropolitan area. In them I participated as researcher and/or organizational facilitator.
