Abstract

La pandemia del COVID-19 ha acelerado una migración del trabajo presencial al teletrabajo en numerosas actividades de servicios. Muchas de estas áreas ya se encontraban en un proceso de migración a la virtualidad. Pero las cuarentenas implementadas frente a la pandemia obligaron a realizar inversiones en equipamiento, conectividad y sistemas que agilizaron fuertemente ese proceso. Y dado que, en muchos casos, los costos de esas inversiones y otros costos transaccionales eran lo que detenía el cambio de modalidad, ahora que esos gastos ya fueron afrontados, seguramente una parte importante de esta migración al trabajo remoto será permanente. En este artículo utilizamos los resultados de la Teoría de la Firma para argumentar que este desplazamiento, parcialmente irreversible, de trabajo presencial a trabajo virtual inducirá, a su vez, una migración de trabajo en relación de dependencia como empleado a trabajo por cuenta propia como proveedor afectando la organización del trabajo y los tamaños óptimos de las firmas en la virtualidad.
