Abstract

During the last years of his life, the Italian director and writer Pier Paolo Pasolini contributed in the newspapers of his country with political articles that have some points in common with the legacy of the Critical Theory, though he never made any explicit allusion to it. Pasolini interventions are those of a independent activist and engaged artist, and they are intended to clarify basic traits of the changing Italian society of his times. This article offers a critical revision of some of Pasolini‘s main ideas regarding those problems in the understanding that they may help to grasp some Italian (and non Italian) contemporary political issues. Besides, Pasolini‘s essays might be considered as an original contribution, though passionate, heterodox and unsystematic, to the open legacy of the Frankfurt School.
