Abstract

¿Qué es un pueblo? Contrariamente a la idea que ha hecho del dêmos griego la forma arquetípica ideal de la política occidental, se propone considerar aquí al pueblo-de-Dios judío como el modelo por excelencia respecto del cual deben medirse todos los pueblos del orbe occidentalizado. Solamente de la confrontación de los pueblos históricos con su par mesiánico podrá surgir una política posible. De esta manera, la indagación de la teología política judía, en constante tensión con la cristiana, puede permitir desandar el camino que en Occidente ha conducido al negativo de todo pueblo, al Volk radicalizado que encontró en el campo de concentración su rostro más sombrío. El libro busca constituir una provocativa meditación sobre el judaísmo como problema político, el mesianismo y los tiempos modernos, que se confronta con pensadores que incluyen a Hermann Cohen, Franz Rosenzweig o Walter Benjamin, así como también a Carl Schmitt, Emmanuel Levinas y Giorgio Agamben.
