Abstract

La donación de ovocitos es una técnica de alta complejidad donde mujeres jóvenes “donan” sus óvulos para que otras mujeres (receptoras) puedan convertirse en madres. La práctica, que forma parte de las técnicas de reproducción humana asistida, es una intervención médico-científica que ha ido en aumento durante los últimos años. Desde el discurso tecnocientífico se inscribe como una práctica “altruista”. Y si bien existe una compensación, se hacen grandes esfuerzos por diferenciarla de un “pago”. Investigaciones anteriores (Ariza, 2016; Viera Cherro, 2018) han analizado este intercambio, mediado por el dispositivo de la reproducción asistida, desde la lógica de la economía moral, donde el valor altruista se construye performativamente. En este capítulo nos proponemos analizar dos lógicas que aunque parezcan excluyentes, sus anudamientos significantes nos permiten pensarlas como complementarias. La primera, ubica a las mujeres donantes como proveedoras. Analizaremos las significaciones del dinero y de la retribución en contextos de inequidad. La segunda, introduce la perspectiva simbólica de la donación fuertemente atravesada por el mito de la mujer = madre (Fernández, 1993) como soporte identificatorio que promueve el intercambio.
