Abstract

Las bases de datos de registros de ocurrencia de biodiversidad constituyen la materia prima a partir de la cual, entre otras cosas, es posible generar hipótesis de distribuciones de especies u otras entidades taxonómicas. En estas, los datos primarios sobre biodiversidad corresponden a información que describe ocurrencias. Son datos crudos que describen en su forma básica y lo menos interpretada posible, lo que ha sido observado o recolectado, cuándo y dónde sucedió(54). Estos datos crudos primarios pueden estar acompañados por información adicional que proporcionan un mayor detalle. En general las bases de datos se presentan en forma de matriz o tabla en la cual cada celda represente un campo de información, cada fila representa a un registro de ocurrencia y cada columna representa información de distintas variables asociadas a cada registro (e.g. especie, familia, localidad de presencia, latitud, longitud, etc.).
