El rol del Consejo de Defensa de la UNASUR en los últimos conflictos regionales

Abstract

El intento de golpe de Estado en Ecuador, como en su momento la crisis entre Colombia y Venezuela, reavivó el debate acerca del Consejo de Defensa Sudamericano creado en el marco de la Unasur. Tras repasar sus antecedentes, el artículo sostiene que el organismo ofrece la oportunidad de profundizar el diálogo regional en el área de defensa, consolidar una visión propia más allá de los intereses de Estados Unidos y funcionar como mecanismo de mediación en momentos de conflicto. Argentina podría utilizarlo como una plataforma para proyectarse regionalmente en temas como el control civil democrático de las Fuerzas Armadas.
