Aprovechamiento sustentable de áridos dunarios en el sudeste de la Provincia de Buenos Aires

Abstract

The coastal dunes are part of the coast that is made up of thebeach and the dune itself. It is an ecological system in constant natural change and evolving on ahuman time scale. In the municipalities of Lobería and Necochea there are human settlements, extraction of aggregates, tourism and other anthropic activities that modify the natural mobilityof the dunes, affecting the urban areas of Arenas Verdes and Costa Bonita towns, generatingthe loss of a significant number of public and private lots, with the consequent economicdamages. This document offers mechanisms that will provide the necessary aggregates tosupport the construction industry in southeast Buenos Aires and, at the same time, reduce thegeomorphological risk caused by migrant dunes in vulnerable urban areas and minimize theprejudices related to the extractive mining activity. The proposal is backed by an environmentalsustainability exploitation scheme, with a resource renewal rate generated by transportationand mobility of the dune field over an urbanized area, allowing a reasonable extraction ofaggregates from the front of the transversal dunes, with minimal damage to both, coastalecosystems and the beach environment.
