Precipitaciones máximas en el sudeste bonaerense

Abstract

The spatial distribution of maximum precipitation in the southeast of Buenos Aires is described, considering the representative area of Sea and Hills. Daily, weekly and monthly registrations of precipitation were analyzed during the period 1998-2002. Three different weeks with precipitation amounts greater than 50 mm and with different synoptic situations are presented as an example. A great spatial variability was observed. In March 1999,370 mm of precipitation were measured in Langueyú and only 40 in Pieres. A deeper and longer study of these extreme events is needed to evaluate the waterproof effects on the urban surfaces, to re-design the diameter and hole of the drainpipe to facilitate the fast drainage, its cleaning, etc. Some management considerations are suggested about the planning of productive activities and prevention of dangerous situations derived from these types of events.
