El día que se acabó la guerra contra las drogas: Narcotráfico y políticas de drogas

Abstract

Cuando se acabó la guerra contra las drogas en América Latina, comenzó un tiempo de profundas transformaciones. Por supuesto, los cambios no fueron de la noche a la mañana pero se avanzó en una dirección precisa: hacia el respeto de los derechos de las personas y el cuidado de la salud. En el caso de Argentina, al igual que en muchos de los países de la región, las mayores resistencias a los nuevos lineamientos de las políticas de drogas fueron generadas por diversos grupos que durante décadas se beneficiaron del negocio de la prohibición, la clandestinidad y la persecución. Pero lo más importante fueron los cambios en las acciones de salud y el fin de las políticas represivas sobre mujeres y jóvenes.
