La quincha y los sistemas de entramados

Abstract

El término “quincha” proviene del quechua que, de acuerdo a González Holguín (1608) significa “cañizo, seto, o barrera”, mientras que el término quenchaycuni significa “cercar, o hacer quincha de pared, o de palos, o esteras, o varas”. En la actualidad, el término mantiene su significado y se refiere a un sistema constructivo basado en el uso de estructuras de madera, caña u otras fibras vegetales, azotadas con barro para la materialización de cerramientos. Este sistema constructivo debe circunscribirse en el marco más amplio de las técnicas de “entramados” o “técnicas mixtas” que, incluyendo a la quincha, se caracterizan principalmente por la presencia de más de un material, donde la resistencia estructural depende fundamentalmente en marcos de madera y el entramado vegetal interno funciona como estructura auxiliar destinada a sostener y consolidar el relleno de barro en el muro (Garzón, 2011). Dentro de este sistema constructivo se registra una importante variabilidad de procedimientos según las distintas regiones donde se lo utilice, dependiendo de las características de las fibras que localmente se aprovechan para el desarrollo de esta técnica (Carazas Aedo, 2014).
