Abstract

Considering the use of web portals and social networks as sources in research in Social Sciences, the objective of this work is to make a methodological reflection on the use of digital media for the ethnography study of the forms of action political and ethnic representation. Focusing particularly on anti-mining struggle context in the Argentina Puna from the rejection of the lithium projects by the “Table of original communities of Cuenca de Salinas Grandes and Laguna de Guayatayoc” (Salta and Jujuy, Argentina). In this sense, we ask ourselves, in the first place, about the ways of imagine and recreate the ethnicity, considering the representations of “the ethnic” that are projected on the web by those collectives of the Puna Argentina actively involved in pages and anti-mining social networks. While, in a second moment, we explore the methodological problems that technological mediation presents in the development of ethnographic practice and, particularly, in the studies of the construction of identity.
