El individualismo autoritario

Abstract

En las sociedades latinoamericanas presenciamos una nueva legitimidad política conservadora que se manifiesta en opciones políticas, con la elección de Jair Bolsonaro tal vez como el paradigma más claro, pero que se manifiesta sobre todo en una corriente más capilar que atraviesa la vida cotidiana. Emerge en las reacciones contra las políticas de igualdad de género, en el rechazo público de minorías étnicas y en discursos explícitos que abandonan el camino posible de la inclusión social de los sectores postergados. Más que un sistema ideológico conservador consistente, esas reacciones parecerían ser efecto de un malestar que se manifiesta en el desapego a los valores igualitarios encarnados en los sentidos comunes democráticos, que se expresan con intensidades variables. ¿Qué nos dice este proceso sobre las democracias latinoamericanas que se consolidaron luego del ciclo autoritario de la década de 1970? ¿Significa todo esto un regreso del autoritarismo? ¿Una continuidad con una cultura jerárquica? ¿O hay algo nuevo en los “nuevos” conservadurismos?
