This work proposes to identify and replace various medical topics that were manifested in the Buenos Aires press during the first half of the 19th century. Several newspapers gave rise in their pages to topics related to medicine, especially the Rivadavia and Rosas periods. The aim is to analyze the treatment and dissemination of information, news and medical discoveries as well as the controversies and conflicts around the competences and incumbencies about what was valid knowledge or not in medical education. Likewise, it realizes how certain newspapers that we could call “specialized” appeared and even how the use of a medical discourse to explain social and political issues was reflected early on.
