Los primeros mamiferos Mesozoicos de Chile

Abstract

La historia de los descubrimientos de restos de mamíferos que vivieron durante la Era Mesozoica en América del Sur es relativamente nueva y datan de la década de 1950 cuando se descubrieron huellas jurásicas atribuidas a este grupo. Los últimos descubrimientos realizados en el extremo sur de Chile, en rocas de aproximadamente 70 millones de años de antigüedad, están aportando datos significativos para comprender la diversidad de los mamíferos que vivieron en los últimos momentos de la “era de los dinosaurios”.
