¿Conocimientos relevantes?: El Estado y el privilegio del conocimiento científico

Abstract

El accionar conjunto de ciencias, Estado y empresas que trae aparejado el daño al ambiente, a la salud y a las formas de vida de múltiples comunidades, habilita una discusión más amplia relativa a quiénes pueden participar y cómo de la pregunta política básica de cómo queremos vivir. Entre y dentro de los distintos grupos de actores reconocemos la existencia de una gran heterogeneidad, respecto a intereses, posiciones y sentires. En este sentido, nos parece central recuperar el vínculo entre la ciencia estatal y aspiraciones democráticas y participativas. Consideramos que lo democrático en un sentido amplio refiere a la autodeterminación o autogobierno de los pueblos y comunidades. Así pues, es deseable que la pregunta referida a los conocimientos relevantes se condiga con un proceso de democratización de la ciencia estatal, que apueste por la aparición de voces plurales y, en particular, de las que ponen sobre la mesa la defensa de necesidades colectivas, articulando lo estatal con lo público.
