Dormancy vary with the physiological maturity of seeds. The color of fruits is a descriptor used as an indicator of the state of maturity and the physiological quality of the seeds. The goal was to evaluate the effect of seed maturity on dormancy in Sapium haematospermum. The seeds were classified into three states of maturity based on their color. Moisture content, morphological descriptors and germination were analyzed. The moisture content of seeds decreased significantly with the state of maturity, while the size of the seeds increased. No germinationwould indicate that dormancy did not vary with maturity levels of seeds.
