Abstract

El Espinal es una Ecorregión de la llanura chaco-pampeana, que ocupa un amplio arco de bosques rodeando por el Norte, Oeste y Sur a la Ecorregión Pampa, con una extensión de 291.941 km2. Abarca el Sur de la provincia de Corrientes, mitad Norte de la provincia de Entre Ríos, una faja central de las provincias de Santa Fe y Córdoba, centro y Sur de la provincia de San Luis, mitad oriental de la provincia de La Pampa y Sur de la provincia de Buenos Aires (Figura 11.1). Está dividia en tres subregiones sobre la base de los tipos de bosque predominantes y nueve complejos de ecosistemas según las geoformas predominantes. 1) Subregión Cuenca del Paraná con Ñandubay: Complejo Cuchillas Mesopotámicas, Complejo Pampas Llanas Húmedas, Complejo Terrazas y Valles de Inundación; 2) Subregión Llanura Chaco Pampeana con Algarrobo: Complejo Pampas Llanas Altas, Complejo Pampas Pedemontanas, Complejo Pampas Periserranas; 3) Subregión Llanura Chaco Pampeana con Caldenal: Complejo Pampas Arenosas con Pastizal Psamófilo, Complejo Pampas Arenosas con Arbustal Pastizal, Complejo Ecotono con Patagonia.
