Trichoptera

Abstract

Con más de 1.350 especies citadas para América del Sur y aproximadamente 300 para la Argentina, puede considerarse que Trichoptera es uno de los órdenes de insectos de agua dulce más diversificados. Las larvas son acuáticas y viven en refugios fijos o transportables elaborados con seda; los adultos son aéreos y tienen aspecto de polillas de antenas largas. El conocimiento taxonómico de nuestra fauna es aún escaso, permanentemente se dan a conocer nuevas especies o se amplían los datos distribucionales de las ya conocidas, quedando rápidamente desactualizados los listados faunísticos, de los cuales el más completo para la Región Neotropical es Flint et al. (1999), en el que consta una exhaustiva bibliografía. En este trabajo se proporcionan claves que permiten la identificación hasta nivel genérico de todas las larvas conocidas. Asimismo, se incluyeron claves para la determinación de adultos ya que de los 127 géneros citados para América del Sur aún restan por describirse las larvas de 26 de ellos. En ningún caso se han incluido claves para especies.
