Determinantes del tiempo de trabajo de cuidado y brechas de género

Abstract

El cuidado es una dimensión crucial del bienestar humano, cuyos costos de proveerlo recaen desproporcionadamente sobre las mujeres. Es un hecho ampliamente reportado que su distribución al interior de los hogares dista de ser equitativa entre varones y mujeres. Sin duda, se trata de una problemática cuyos efectos se extienden más allá de la esfera doméstica e impactan negativamente sobre las posibilidades de participación de las mujeres, tanto en el mercado de trabajo en particular como en la esfera pública en general. Este trabajo utiliza datos de la Encuesta Nacional de Estructura Social, llevada adelante por el Programa de Investigación sobre la Sociedad Argentina Contemporánea (ENES-PISAC) –que incluyó un módulo específico sobre esta temática– para estimar modelos de determinación del tiempo destinado a TDCNR. Aportamos evidencia novedosa sobre tamaño y determinantes de la brecha de género observada en una serie de tareas realizadas de manera cotidiana en los hogares. Los resultados contribuyen al conocimiento sobre los atenuantes y/o agravantes de las inequidades observadas en la distribución del TDCNR, sugiriendo posibles líneas de intervención en este campo.
