In this work, we attempt to highlight and explain those forms of potency (δύναμις) that, by their very constitution, turn out not to be referred in a simple way to the acts that are proper to them. In effect, these are those δύναμις that are in a position to increase their potential and with that, to increase the act to which they tend. To this purpose, I promote two different but intimately related searches: 1) to find those nuclei of senses rooted in the generic concept of power that are appropriate to enhance the open character of possibility that all potency involves; and 2) to establish the specific forms of potency that possess those characteristics which allow them to expand, increase or extend their possibilities.
