Abstract

This article aims to reflect on the formation of the capitalist city and understand its dynamics within the space of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires (CABA). It begins with a characterization of the capitalist city as a complex value use qualifies for the development of capitalist production model conditions. It also reflects on inequalities generated in space from differences in access to opportunities and infrastructure that the city offers. Thus, it highlights the existence of fragmented city with two constituent and functional aspects together formally and informally, which are complementary in the production and reproduction of the city itself. This situation is expressed, in turn, in different ways of living in the CABA. The research on which this article is framed is interested in hotels-pension, considering them an expression of the contradictions generated of living in the city. It also develops a qualitative methodology exploratory-descriptive scope and performs a combination of a theoretical inquiry and information obtained in the fieldwork (from the development of methods of semi-structured interviews and participant observation).
