Abstract

En el marco de los procesos de conservación/desplazamiento de las lenguas de origen desencadenados en Argentina a partir de la llegada de la inmigración masiva europea entre fines del siglo XIX y comienzos del XX, que renovó la demografía del país y tuvo particular impacto en la región litoral, la trayectoria sociolingüística de la región sudoeste de la provincia de Buenos Aires presenta particular significación y complejidad (Fontanella de Weinberg, 1991). La diversidad de grupos inmigratorios arribados a la zona, la heterogénea composición étnico-nacional de ese aflujo migratorio, que conllevó una gran heterogeneidad lingüística, y su peso numérico, por tratarse de una zona en la que el porcentaje de la población inmigratoria tuvo el mayor peso relativo del país en relación con la población de base (Weinberg y colaboradores, 1978), constituyeron factores dinámicos convergentes en la definición del perfil sociolingüístico regional, que tuvo su expresión en un primer momento en una compleja situación de multilingüismo y multidialectalismo...
