Clave pictórica de polillas de interés agrícola.

Abstract

El presente trabajo es una clave para identificar 31 especies de polillas (mariposas de hábitos nocturnos) que afectan cultivos extensivos en Argentina. Es una herramienta tecnológica y no un trabajo de taxonomía clásica. Contiene 120 fotografías a color con indicaciones de caracteres útiles para su precisa identificación bajo condiciones de campo. Es una clasificación basada en el concepto de relación de semejanza, un primer agrupamiento de especies es por tamaño, luego por cultivos que ataca, momentos de aparición en un mismo cultivo o tipo de daños. Además, en un anexo organizado en fichas individuales, se describen aspectos bioecológicos detallando ubicación taxonómica, descripción de sus distintos estados de desarrollo (huevo, larva, pupa y adulto), distribución geográfica, enemigos naturales, daños y bibliografía específica. Su utilidad radica en brindar apoyo a una red de trampas de luz distribuídas en todo el país, que esperamos extender por su valioso aporte de información para elaborar Sistemas de Alerta Sanitario sobre insectos plaga. También resultará de utilidad para estudiantes de ciencias agrarias, investigadores, profesionales que ofrecen el Servicio de Monitoreo de Cultivos y productores agropecuarios.
