Rezagos transicionales en la población argentina contemporánea

Abstract

Se describe la dinámica demográfica argentina desde 1996 en Argentina, a fin de considerar las consecuencias sociales que produjo la crisis económica de 2001-2002. Se utiliza la noción de rezago transicional para contrastar los diferentes perfiles poblacionales al interior del país, desde la perspectiva de la vulnerabilidad sociodemográfica. Se presentan los principales indicadores de fecundidad, mortalidad y estructura etaria para 1997, 2001, 2010 y para el último año en que se disponen de estadísticas vitales publicadas (2013). La población argentina ha experimentado un avance en su proceso de transición demográfica que coexiste con situaciones de rezago transicional: heterogeneidad regional, incremento de la fecundidad adolescente y retrocesos transitorios en la mortalidad general e infantil. El noreste argentino es la región con mayor rezago transicional, mientras que las restantes regiones del interior se concentran alrededor de los valores nacionales y la capital registra un perfil mucho más avanzado.
