Determinación de ráfagas para distintas rugosidades urbanas

Abstract

Partial results of studies carried out to analyze the interrelation between the normal flow of the air and the gusts corresponding to the same hour band for diverse urban ruggedness are exposed. The work was developed in a city of middle latitude located in the arid fringe of Southamerica. This location is, characterized by its high indexes of aridity and continentality, and its results can be extrapolated to others of similar urban and climatic characteristics. Was determined the gust speed in function of the normal airflow registered in each meteorological station and the ruggedness corresponding to its localization. The paper gives a practical tool for the determination of the gusts, meteorological phenomenon that potentially causes the damages to the aerial infrastructure of the city. The results have been transferred to the organism responsible of the electric power distribution in San Juan's county: they will also be transferred to the Administration Powers responsible for the development and urban planning of the city and to the professionals committed with the environmental design of the human habitat and represents a scientific contribution to the achievement of better conditions of comfort in urban areas of arid zones.
