Abstract

In this paper we obtain experimental evidence about di§erent issues concerning auction Theory. Primarily the paper seeks to test experimentally shifts in behavior in reaction to signiÖcant changes in the number of bidders and to test risk aversion. Three variables are modeled based on the degree of risk aversion and the number of bidders: bid, di§erence between the value and the bid and the percentage of wins of each bidder. The main result is that increases in the number of bidders do not increase the aggressiveness among bidders and in general most of the bidders are risk averse.
