El presente trabajo propone identificar y analizar un conjunto de problemáticas asociadas a las fotografías póstumas de Ernesto ¨Che¨ Guevara, y reflexionar sobre el concepto tradicional de documento fotográfico. Para ello se intentará dar cuenta del proceso que llevó a que las fotografías de un cuerpo muerto — cuyos restos físicos no aparecieron hasta treinta años después —, exhibido en una pequeña habitación, fueran consideradas evidencia certera de un acontecimiento histórico-político: el asesinato del Che. ¿Fueron estos registros fotográficos aceptados como una prueba irrefutable desde el primer momento? ¿Con qué otro tipo de documentos se pusieron en relación? ¿Qué se dijo sobre estas imágenes? En vínculo con esto último, otro de los objetivos será el de revisar críticamente algunos de los discursos formulados sobre dichas imágenes, a la luz de fuentes que han sido mayormente desconocidas o desestimadas, buscando así ponerlas en valor. Además de las fotografías mencionadas, serán consideradas otras fuentes audiovisuales y escritas — correspondientes a la época — que permitirán enriquecer el estudio del contexto histórico y las condiciones de producción y circulación de las imágenes del Che Guevara muerto.

This work proposes to identify and analyze a set of problems associated with the posthumous photographs of Ernesto ¨Che¨ Guevara, and to reflect on the traditional concept of photographic document. To do this, we will focus on the process that led the photographs of a dead body — whose physical remains did not appear until thirty years later —, displayed in a small room, were considered accurate evidence of a historical-political event: the murder of Che. Were these photographic captures accepted as irrefutable evidence since the beginning? With what other types of documents did they relate? What was said about these images? Bearing this in mind, another objective will be to critically review some of the discourses regarding these photographic captures, considering sources that have been mostly unknown or dismissed, to put them in value. Additionally, other audiovisual and written sources from that time will be considered to improve the study of the historical context and the conditions of production and circulation of the images of the dead Che Guevara.
