Anestro posparto en la vaca lechera

Abstract

Para lograr un intervalo de parto de 365 días, las vacas deben preñarse alrededor de los 83 días posparto, ya que la gestación dura 282 días. Los retrasos en la primera ovula - ción disminuyen la eficiencia reproductiva y la expresión de celo, y aumentan el intervalo parto-concepción y el riesgo de descarte de las vacas del rodeo o rebaño. Las vacas anovulatorias son aquellas que después del parto tienen ausencia de cuerpo lúteo y bajas concentracio - nes de progesterona. La ocurrencia de vacas anovulatorias después de los 50 días del parto es diferente según el tipo de explotación, y está entre un 25 % en sistemas intensivos (Gümen et al., 2003) y hasta el 50 % en algunos sistemas pastoriles en Nueva Zelanda (Bryan et al., 2013).
