Abstract

Los miembros de la familia Parvoviridae infectan a una gran variedad de especies animales y son agentes causales de enfermedades de suma importancia en veterinaria. Afectan tanto a vertebrados como a invertebrados y todos sus miembros están filogenéticamente relacionados, ya que poseen propiedades biológicas en común como la resistencia a la desecación en el ambiente y el requerimiento, para poder replicarse, de células en fase S del ciclo celular. La familia Parvoviridae se divide en dos subfamilias según la especificidad ligada al hospedador: Parvovirinae y Densovirinae, que afectan a vertebrados e invertebrados respectivamente. La subfamilia Parvovirinae se divide de acuerdo al rango de hospedador, patogénesis, signos clínicos y propiedades moleculares, en 8 géneros diferentes: Amdoparvovirus, Aveparvovirus, Bocaparvovirus, Copiparvovirus, Dependoparvovirus, Erythroparvovirus, Protoparvovirus y Tetraparvovirus. La subfamilia Densovirinae se divide en 5 géneros denominados: Ambidensovirus, Iteradensovirus, Hepandensovirus, Penstyldensovirus y Brevidensovirus. Este capítulo se referirá a aquellos géneros que afectan a vertebrados y que causan enfermedades de interés veterinario. En la Tabla 1 se citan los principales parvovirus que afectan a las especies domésticas, denominados según las reglas taxonómicas actuales.
