Relaciones entre Iguales y Confianza

Abstract

Las relaciones igualitarias, no fundadas en basadas en diferencias de estatus o en jerarquías, están constituidas por la confianza. Difícilmente diríamos que hay una relación de amistad si uno de los participantes no le cuenta sus secretos al otro por temor a que éste los exponga públicamente; ni diríamos que una pareja continúa siendo una pareja igualitaria si uno de los miembros instala una aplicación para revisar constantemente los mensajes de las redes sociales del otro ni diríamos que dos ciudadanos siguen participando de una misma comunidad política si uno impide que el otro compre una vivienda en su barrio porque cree que “gente como esa” aumentaría el índice de criminalidad. No obstante, no es claro qué tipo de confianza es la involucrada en este tipo de relaciones igualitarias. ¿Es la confianza que se produce y mantiene gracias a un contrato, a unas supervisiones estrictas y a un cálculo de riesgos y de beneficios? ¿O es la confianza que se produce y se mantiene gracias a una decisión de interpretar los actos del otro de acuerdo a una perspectiva favorable?
