Biodeterioro causado por insectos en maderas

Abstract

Los insectos xilófagos como agentes de biodeterioro ocasionan distintos tipos de daño a lo largo de su ciclo de vida, ya sea por alimentación -digieren la celulosa por los organismos endosimbiontes presentes en sutracto digestivo-, búsqueda de sitios de refugio y/o de reproducción. Su crecimiento es por mudas y según el tipo de metamorfosis pasan por diferentes estados. Los holometábolos por huevo, larva, pupa y adulto, las larvas son muy voraces, las pupas no se alimentan y sufren los cambios para adquirir las características del adulto a expensas de las reservas acumuladas. Los adultos pueden no alimentarse o hacerlo generalmente sobre sustratos diferentes a los de las larvas y vivir en distintos hábitats. En cambio los hemimetábolos, presentan los estados huevo, ninfa y adulto, los dos últimos poseen el mismo régimen alimenticio y comparten el hábitat.En este trabajo , nos referiremos a aquellas especies que afectan maderas en servicio o elaboradas en la República Argentina en orden decrecientede importancia, poniendo de manifiesto algunos aspectos ecológicos interesantes a considerar para su control.
