Abstract

1) La ovulación de Bufo arenarum Hensel se produce porque el abrazo sexual provoca la secreción de gonadotrofina hipofisaria, la cual vá por vía sanguínea y produce la ovulación y ovoposición. Sin pars distalis, el abrazo no hace ovular. 2) Se describen las propiedades de la gonadotrofina hipofisaria del sapo y su acción en diferentes condiciones, el tiempo de su desaparición de la sangre, variaciones estacionales, etc. 3) Las intervenciones sobre el tuber o la hipófisis pueden provocar oclusiones de vasos de pars distalis, reabsorción de la gonadotrofina de la zona isquemiada y por lo tanto ovulación seguida de ovoposición. 4) La gonadotrofina del sapo fué activa en la hembra del sapo y de varios batracios, pero fué siempre inactiva en los mamíferos. 5) La hembra de Bufo arenarum Hensel no respondió más que a las gonadotrofinas hipofisarias de su misma especie y algunas veces a las de Leptodactylus ocellatus (L.) Gir., Bufo D'Orhigny, Bufo marinus, Bufo paracnemis. 6) La gonadotrofina coriónica, en dosis altas, provocó la ovulación de Bufo arenarum. 7) No provocaron la ovulación del sapo Bufo arenarum Hensel las gonadotrofinas de las hipófisis de mamíferos, aves, serpientes y peces, y orina de mujer embarazada, etc., ensayadas hasta hoy.

1) The ovulation in Bufo arenarum Hensel takes place because sexual clasp produces secretion of pituitary gonadotrophin which gives rise to ovulation and deposition of eggs. When the pars distalis has been removed amplexus does not produce ovulation. 2) The properties of toads pituitary gonadotrophin are described as well as its: action under different conditions, time of disappearance from blood, seasonal changes, etc. 3) Operations on the tuber or pituitary can produce occlusion of the blood vessels of the pars distalis, reabsorption of gonadotrophin in the ischaemic areas and therefore ovulation and egg deposition. 4) Toad's gonadotrophin was active in the Load and in other batrachian females but was always inactive in mammals. 5) Gonadotropphins of mammalians, birds, snakes an fishes, the pregnancy urine did not produce ovulation in toads. 6) The fernale of Bufo arenarum only respondes to the gonar dotrophins of the same species and sometimes to those of Leptodactylus (L.) Gir. and Bufo D'Orbigny. High doses of chorionic and pregnant mare serum gonadotrophins produces ovulations.
