Acción del aloxano sobre la glucemia del perro

Abstract

Hasta hace poco se podía producir experimentalmente la diabetes en el perro por diversos métodos: a) pancreatectomía total; b) inyecciones repetidas de extracto de lóbulo anterior de hipófisis en animales con páncreas entero o reducido. En animales con masa pancreática reducida quirúrgicamente se puede producir, además, por otros medios: a) administración de tiroides; b) ingestión exagerada de azúcar. Desde hace poco debe agregarse a esta lista de agentes diabetógenos el aloxano, que al destruir las células ß de los islotes provoca la diabetes en los animales con el páncreas entero.
