La economía de Santiago del Estero durante el kirchnerismo

Abstract

Si bien existen balances del periodo kirchnerista (2002-2015) en el nivel nacional, los estudios subnacionales se han convertido en una cuenta pendiente dentro de la academia. Por ello, el presente artículo tiene como objetivo caracterizar y analizar la economía de Santiago del Estero durante el periodo kirchnerista. Para lograrlo, se han realizado tareas de recopilación, procesamiento y análisis de información secundaria de diversa procedencia, enmarcadas en una metodología de corte cuantitativo. Así, por un lado, en Santiago del Estero se han presentado algunos elementos virtuosos, similares a los observados para todo el país, como el fuerte crecimiento del producto y la reducción del desempleo y la indigencia a valores inferiores a dos dígitos. Por otro lado, los pisos estructurales de pobreza y empleo no registrado no han sido perforados. Además, la frontera agropecuaria ha mostrado un fenomenal avance con limitadas consecuencias virtuosas para la economía, y la industria ha avanzado, pero con un perfil condicionado por las ventajas comparativas estáticas. De esta manera, la economía santiagueña no modifica su histórico lugar marginal dentro de la periferia del capitalismo durante el periodo examinado y mantiene una estructura productiva dependiente y desequilibrada.
