Abstract

La hemofilia es un desorden hemorrágico hereditario y congénito, originado por mutaciones en el cromosoma X, caracterizado por la disminución o ausencia de la actividad funcional de los factores VIII o IX. La hemofilia afecta a los individuos varones del lado materno y en un tercio de los casos surge como consecuencia de mutaciones espontáneas (sin antecedentes familiares). La frecuencia de la hemofilia A (deficiencia del FVIII) es de aproximadamente 1 cada 5.000 a 10.000 nacimientos de varones y la de la hemofilia B (deficiencia del FIX) es de 1 cada 30.000 a 50.000 nacimientos.
