En este trabajo analizamos la lectura interpretativa realizada por el semanario argentino Caras y Caretas acerca de la reforma electoral de 1902. Aunque la nueva ley no modificó las prácticas electorales, el estudio de la revista permite adentrarse en la concepción de ciudadanía que envolvía y orientaba esas prácticas. La publicación es abordada en el período 1902-1904. Dentro de ese corpus documental, observamos caricaturas, notas periodísticas y relatos ficcionales. Su examen dilucida lógicas políticas construidas de arriba hacia abajo y negociadas desde las bases de apoyo a líderes locales. En ese contexto, la revista versó sobre las estrategias de los habitantes y delineó un perfil de ciudadano.
In this paper, we analyze the balance made by the Caras y Caretas argentine magazine about the electoral reform in 1902. Although the new law didn`t change electoral practices, magazine study allows get in conception of citizenship that enveloped and directed such practices. The publication is addressed in the period 1902-1904. Within this corpus of documents, we see cartoons, newspapers articles and fictionals stories. The review elucidates politicals logics built in the top-down way and negotiated from the grassroots support of local leaders. In this context, the magazine said about the people ́s strategies and outlined a citizen profile.
